Would you like to get paid to market your school?
 This marketing idea is a staple of Health Clubs and can easily be adopted for martial arts schools.
The idea is to help organizations in your community with a Fund Raising project. When I had my school each summer we would do a fund raiser to earn money to send our competition team to California for the Internationals. Our students would sell candy bars for a $1.00 and the school made 50 cents on each sale. I am not exaggerating when I tell you we would have them delivered by trailer truck because we would sell 12,000 in six weeks. The student that sold the most would also earn a prize. This type of fund raising is common for many groups. They sell candy, pizza dough, magazines, do car washes etc.
The idea is to send the letter below to various groups offering a new idea for fund raising.
Hello
I wanted to have a chance to present a novel idea for your group or organization. As with most groups I am sure you are looking for ways to raise funds for projects, field trips or special events. You might have already done a bake sale, car wash or magazine drive.
I believe we have a product that is extremely easy to market and will prove very profitable for your organization. Our school offers self-defense, fitness and martial arts training for children, teens and adults. I have put together a 30 day package which includes 2 semi-private lessons, 30 days of group classes and an official martial arts uniform. The value of this is $120.00. This is what I propose as a way of helping your organization and our community. Your group sells these packages as your fund raiser for ONLY $20.00. Your organization keeps $10 for your project and we get $10 for teaching the classes and providing the uniform. Our community is full of people who would love to get in shape, learn to defend themselves or give their child some self-confidence and self-esteem.
Our school has been located in the community for 5 years. Rest assured that our instructors are some of the best available and everyone taking lessons will have a great experience. We are professional and pride ourselves is helping people reach their goals.
When dealing with many fund raising efforts there is a need for the organization to incur upfront expenses. There are none with this project. You will simply tell us how many packages you feel you need. We will provide you with the marketing cards that your group will sell. Once the project is over (which we recommend to be 4 - 6 weeks) you will return the unsold cards and 50% of the proceeds.

An organization would earn $2000 if they sold 200 memberships. (Your school would also get $2000) This is not far fetched. If they had only 40 members, each member would only have to sell 5. Imagine the impact on your school if you worked with a different organization each month. I'm sure not everyone is going to take the lessons. Some people will just think of it as a donation, however if just 25% took the program you would have 50 prospects.
