Hello,

I am sure you would agree that the martial arts is changing. Many clients thought I lost my mind last year when I changed the name of my school to East West MMA. Many of you questioned our East West MMA affiliate program and our East West Jujitsu programs. By the end of the year, 100 UP clients will be adding these fantastic programs to their curriculum. The UFC has made MMA the fastest growing sport in the world. It has crossed over to main stream. Adults and kids are loyal fans because of their shows and video games.

I have been asked if I am afraid of the image MMA and the UFC would have and the public’s perception. I not concerned about that because people realize UFC is a sport, the NFL is a sport, and in professional sports things are taken to an extreme. On the positive side, the publicity of Jujitsu and MMA has educated the public, especially dads on what is, and what is not effective. People are also more aware of liability and the concerns with their kids in regards to violence. Wait until you see the video below.

Joe Mullings owns the Armory in Jupiter Florida which is one of UP’s most successful MMA and Jujitsu school nonth I asked him, “What do you tell parents that are concerned about MMA and what they see on TV?” He said, "Jujitsu is the gentle art and we don’t teach kids to choke out other kids. If you are a carpenter and the only tool you have is a hammer, everything you see is a nail. Kids who just learn to kick and punch will do that for defense. With Jujitsu kids can control a situation without injuring the other child while an instructor or help comes.” Parents love that explanation.

Aaron “Ace” Reiss, another very successful UP client teaching Jujitsu and MMA recently wrote this -- When it comes to selling points which is what helps separate me, grappling is truly the most effective and useful self-defense for kids. I always explain to the kids (while looking at the parents) when we work on hitting mitts that its´ purpose is to build more coordination and movement in the body, and from a protection standpoint, our Jujitsu is the best thing for them. Our goal is NOT to hurt others and try to avoid conflict, but if we have to protect ourselves, our Jujitsu gives us the best chance to control an aggressor and make sure they can’t hurt us. Parents take to that quickly and this is why, for my kids, year 1, they do no self-defense scenarios. Just what I call “techniques” where they learn to initiate certain skills - mostly takedowns to control positions. On B days is grappling so they can now try what they learned on A days, add whatever submission we taught and put it together. I got rid of the self-defense from year 1 because I know they will never be able to make it work. Parents know that "chop, chop, heel palm, kick & cover out" isn’t the only answer.

The link below is a recent news segment in Arizona – It’s explains why kids are flocking to MMA.

I am not suggesting you drop your art. However, there is a huge market for this. Add the life skills, values and lessons we teach through United Professionals and you have a combination that can’t be beat. BUT, there is a lot to learn to do this successfully. You need the business education with the curriculum to be the best in your area.

Our next MMA BJJ training is October 16th in Syracuse NY. This program is amazing. You don’t have to change styles or your school name and for the cost of two students, you have everything you need to add $85,000 income to your school in the next year.

If you already have an MMA or BJJ school and are not getting the results you want we can help there also. Aaron Reiss will also be hosting an event in Utah coming up and he has put 125 drills on a DVD for UP clients.

More details on the events are coming. If you would like more information about adding East West MMA, East West Jujitsu or East West Fitness to your school please e-mail me back.

In the first month we went from literally being last to first or second on Google's generic search for martial arts, mma, and karate, in our area.  We have had 6 new lesson submission forms and enrolled 3 of them thus far.  Out of the 3 we did enroll they brought 2 friends that joined as well.  So far 5 new students directly from the website.  Way above any expectations that I had!!!!!! Marco Ovalle, Circle of One, NY

I have had a website with Renee for several months now.  I have had tons of leads call in on a weekly basis from this site.  Over the last couple of months I have people calling in every week for Birthday parties.  In fact I received another Birthday party request from the website today.  I do no advertising for the birthday parties other than the website, and I have been hosting Birthday parties almost every Saturday.  Renee does an outstanding job.  The proof is in the results.  These websites work! Bryce Norton, Riverton Martial Arts

Hello Renee - I just wanted to send you a note to let you know that the web site is still producing results beyond what I expected. This month of Feb so far, I have gotten six hits, four appointments and two signups from the site. Thanks for your time and effort in putting the site up and for working with me. I have had my site since Aug 2008 and it has been getting hits every month. I had a previous site for a year and it did not get a single hit in the whole year and it was built and run by a well known organization and the investment was a whole lot more. Thank you again, Jonathan Stewart - PMA Dover, DE

Hello Mr. Silva, I wanted to touch base with you, and let you know how things are going. September is usually our most productive month, and this one is no exception. So far, we have 17 new students enrolled, and the hits just keep on coming. Just this afternoon, as I was about to start teaching, two parents called, within 4 minutes of each other, to inquire as to whether they could bring in their 4 yr. olds for introductory classes today. Both of these parents had found out about us from our website today. We signed two new students today, from the website. In the past 3-4 weeks, 75-80% of our prospects first viewed our website, before calling us. More people than ever before are interested in booking Birthday parties with us, after viewing the information presented on the site. The response we're getting is unbelievable! - Wanda White - Boston Academy of Martial Arts
Mr. Silva, I am so pleased with my new website that I thought it deserved it's own testimonial. I wanted to let you know what a fantastic job Renee Helton has done for me on my new school website. But now let me tell you what my site created by Renee has done. My site that Renee built site had been up for just 2 1/2 days and I already have 4 prospects in the aweber system receiving the auto responder letters and signed up 2 students from the new website. I thought that I knew what I was doing but Renee is the pro. Do yourself a HUGE FAVOR and sign up for one of Renee's sites. I have tried the cheap way, didn't work, I have tried the expensive way, didn't work too well, I spent countless hours working my old site for over 2 years before it finally paid off decently. Please tell all UP clients not to spend the ungodly amount of time that I spent to gain just decent results in my area, take the shortcut to an incredible martial arts school website and sign up with Renee...SHE'S A BARGAIN! Renee will patiently work with you but don't try to out think her, you do your job and let Renee do hers, you'll be glad you did. Brian Wethington, Wesley Chapel Martial Arts

Success Stories to Share

Folks,

Fresh from the webinar. I came home and as I was getting out of my car, a lady walked by my house with her right arm in a sling, and walking her dog with the left. Never missing an opportunity, I asked if it was a chow dog. It looked just like one that I had for 15 years. She told me that it was not, but thought that the breeds were related.

Then, out of nowhere, asked; "do You have that karate place? My daughter trains at Tiger Shulmans, and wants to go somewhere else and they are too focused on competitions..."

I gave her an ad card. I asked how she heard about the school, she had driven by, when I asked how she associated ME with the cchool, she said; "You had that jacket on the other day."

So, they are coming in tomorrow - she wants to join when her arm gets out of the sling. During the webinar, my phone rang, it was someone asking about Kardio Kickboxing for herself and her mom. I did the phone script that you outlined on the webinar and they are coming in tomorrow as well.

As I keep encountering; "the time to strike is when the opportunity presents itself."

Thank You for the help!

Dedicated to Our Success,
Mark Schiffman

Dear Sir,

Just a quick thank you for the Birthday party idea. I had a party with nine children and after I had the birthday girl break the board I asked who else wants to break a board and spin the prize wheel? I had everyone spin the wheel and had the birthday girl decide on the break we were going to teach them during their free class. I was able to set up six appointments. Also, I used the preframe you taught me to get four of the parents to stay and watch the party and because they saw the intro I was able to sign them up on a six month basic program right after the party.

Thank-you very much - we should talk more often.

Richard Lykes
Master Silva,

Looking at my numbers and stats for last month and this month up-to-date, I see that 60% of our enrollments come from VIP person-to-person. All the staff in my schools VIP, and even our SWAT team which we call Warriors.

We do the print ads, we have lead boxes, etc., but nothing is giving the returns like good old person-to-person recruitment. Yes, people don't like to do it. But if it gets the results, why fight it. I hear many schools that say, "My staff doesn't like to VIP." or "Hey, Kids don't want to go to schools!" or "Heck, I don't like to have to stop on red lights... but I have to." VIPing begins with a culture you set in your school. We teach confidence, right? Well what a better way to practice and demonstrate it than to approach total strangers and invite them to your school. We teach all students how to recruit. We even have demonstrations in graduation. It's a culture! I tell students and parents, "many schools have their students fight in tournaments as a way to demonstrate their skills -- here in Mastery Martial Arts we practice leadership... we teach our students to approach people and demonstrate confidence by inviting them to our school." This of course is not mandatory. But students want to impress the instructors and that is a sure way to do it.

VIPing is an act of courage --"Courage is not the absence of fear, but when you act in spite of being afraid." Yes, we have lost some staff due to NOT wanting to VIP... But what kind of staff is one that just wants to sit around in the school waiting for something to happen. The days of waiting for business are long gone -- We must be action takers and face the fears and prove what we teach... Confidence and Leadership!

Sincerely,
Pablo Zamora
